There are over one BILLION people on Facebook – chances are you are too, right? How many times do you log in to your account per day? Statistically, 50% of Facebook users log in every day (and multiple times using multiple devices). Most active Facebook users login 3-5 times per day to interact with their friends and pages they follow.
What you may not know (pay attention this is important!) is that Facebook has been collecting data on its users since it’s inception. They know the people you interact with, they know the items you like and the web pages you visit. Facebook has also networked with some of the top data providers and also knows your demographics, purchasing behavior and A LOT of other data. Creepy, right?
Facebook also allows businesses to leverage their intelligent data pool to market their products or services to its users. Read that again. If you are a business owner or in charge of generating leads for your business then this should be music to your ears.
This type of advertising has never been available before and it’s helping businesses each and every day take their business to the next level by advertising to their best possible prospects.
Imagine being able to put an offer in front of your ideal customer – the ones that are most interested in what you sell, the ones are most likely to purchase and the ones that can actually afford to purchase from you.
Ok, that’s great but will Facebook Advertising work for your business? In most cases it definitely will; however, your chances increase exponentially if you have these three key elements in place:
3 Keys to Successful Facebook Advertising
1. The first key to Facebook Advertising is to really dial in who your target audience is … what their demographic is, what problems they are having, what their interests are, what their financial status is if they own a home or rent etc… Knowing who your target audience really is can make or break your Facebook Advertising Campaign.
2.The second key is to have a compelling offer to present to your target audience. Without a strong offer, you likely will not attract anyone (that is usually the case online or offline – you MUST have a strong offer to present to prospects). That does not mean you have to give away the farm! The best offers have some type trial or discount on the front end – with some type of an up sell or cross sell (known as a sales funnel) to increase the average order amount (think of McDonald’s “Would you like fries with that” approach). Food for thought: know the lifetime value of your customer – if they buy from you more than once then you can afford to put better “bait on the hook”. The stronger the offer – the stronger the chances you will be successful with Facebook advertising.
3.The third key is to have some type of a follow-up system in place to follow up with the leads you generate from Facebook (preferably automated). There are multiple ways to follow up with the leads generated – phone, email, text messages, voice drops, Facebook messenger ad retargeting are a few. If you don’t have a follow-up system in place, then your chances of converting Facebook Leads generated from advertising goes down substantially.
Most businesses are good with the first and second keys mentioned above; however, they struggle with the third. DO NOT LET THAT STOP YOU FROM TRYING FACEBOOK ADVERTISING. Your follow-up system can be as simple as calling the prospect to start with. You can always build a more elaborate follow-up system down the road that includes all the bells and whistles.
The BEST WAY to tell if Facebook Advertising will work for you is to TEST IT! The beautiful thing is Facebook Advertising is CHEAP compared to other traditional platforms. You can also turn on or shut off Facebook Ads at any time … much like a faucet. No contracts or long-term commitments like Radio, Print Ads or TV.
